Hi,

According to the announce, kde 3.1 ebuilds are masked testing for x86 and ppc.
I'm wondering, why is this mask? If the release is considered stable by the
developers what is the reason for the mask in gentoo? Is it because the
ebuilds are very new and the mask is because of the ebuilds?

Also, I don't understand why both versions stay installed by default. I agree
that some ppl may want to emerge both and try to see wich one they like best,
but I think that represent a small amount of kde users who probably are
already using the release candidates =) Imho, the default behaviour would be
to replace kde 3.0.* and if the user wanted to try both, he could do that.

Please don't get me wrong, i'm not argueing about it, I just would like some
feedback so I could understand what guidelines are currently used by Gentoo
developers. I'm absolutely fine with them and it's just really a curiosity.

Best regards
