Shouldnt make a difference.  In your "Input Device" section of
/etc/X11/XF86Config use:

Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "ZAxisMapping "4 5"
Option "Device" "<your device>"
#Option "Buttons" "3"

Uncomment the last option if you have a 3 button mouse or your wheel
doubles as a button.
