Hi all,

I too am having trouble with Gnome.  If I 'startx', Gnome puts up the 
splash screen for a few seconds, blanks the screen, then...nothing.  I 
have to Ctl-Alt-F1 to get back to the console.  I get a couple of 
errors from X:

R128(0): No DFP detected

then

Caught signal 11. Server aborting.

I don't think that this is the problem, though, since twm works fine, 
and gives the same errors.  It appears that Gnome is trying and gives 
up.  Anyone know where Gnome sends error messages?  Or what might be 
wrong?  I'm pretty sure that I followed the desktop install 
instructions.
