I just tried building the lastest snapshot on my
i686-linux-2.2.14-glibc2.1.3pre4 box. Relevant options/flags are:

configure: --with-gnu-as --enable-shared --with-gnu-ld
BOOT_CFLAGS: -O3 -march=pentiumpro -funroll-loops -fomit-frame-pointer
              -fstrict-aliasing -fforce-mem -fforce-addr -ffast-math
              -malign-double.

The build dies in genattrtab as:

stage1/xgcc -Bstage1/ -B/usr/local/i686-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ -DIN_GCC -W -Wall \
-Wtraditional -O2 -O3 -march=pentiumpro -funroll-loops -fomit-frame-pointer \
-fstrict-aliasing -fforce-mem -fforce-addr -ffast-math -malign-double \
-DHAVE_CONFIG_H -o genattrtab \ genattrtab.o rtl.o bitmap.o ggc-none.o print-rtl.o \
errors.o ` case "obstack.o" in ?*) echo obstack.o ;; esac ` ` case "" in ?*) echo ;; \
esac ` ` case "" in ?*) echo ;; esac ` ` case "" in ?*) echo ;; esac ` ` case "" \
                in ?*) echo ;; esac `
./genattrtab ../../egcs/gcc/config/i386/i386.md > tmp-attrtab.c
make[2]: *** [s-attrtab] Error 139

I'll send further debugging information if someone tells me what they'd like.

David
