Subject:    ld get relocation overflow

I am not sure that this is the right list but....

I am trying to do a partial link of a few large files command

	ld -r files*.o -o temp.o

 and get the following error message

		reloc overflow: 0x13888 > 0xffff

This occurs on the 19.2 release and on the b20.1. The ld -V reports

	GNU ld version 2.9.4 (with BFD 2.9.4)
  		Supported emulations:
   		i386pe



Any advice much appreciated
