Per 'Movie' support. Personally I'd like to see more than just an
embedded flash player like G2. I say either do it up good or don't do it
at all. JW has an awesome skinnable set of players that support most
video formats including h264. He also has an ad rotator that would add a
nice touch for those who use such things. It can also be used for other
things like random videos and being a separate product can be easily
replaced with a different product.

I guess I don't understand. My goal for movie support in Gallery3 is to
let you upload a movie (just like you'd upload a photo). Gallery3
should extract a thumbnail for you (probably using ffmpeg) and provide a
way to show it with an embedded movie player if you click the thumbnail
on the album page.  </pre>
</blockquote>
I see we have somewhat differing views on the "Media Player" topic.<br>
See <a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" \
href="http://www.trbailey.net/javascript/JW_API.html">http://www.trbailey.net/javascript/JW_API.html</a>
 as a very
rough beginning.<br>
I love those button noises in the traganja theme. That's what gets me
laughing and thinking. <br>

  <pre wrap="">I don't plan to add any other support right now. If
you can describe in detail what you would like and provide urls to
pre-existing tools that support some of that-- I'd be interested. No
commitment, though.

  </pre>
</blockquote>
I wasn't really suggesting you support movies or even audio, which is
what I thought was the initial plan. What I'm saying is that from a
user point of view "I" think it's better to either include flexible
working support for uploaded "MEDIA" files or no native support at all.
It's frustrating to install a "Gallery" that allows media uploads,
generates a thumbnail but makes it difficult to use them anywhere but
on a Gallery page in the Gallery player, like G2 does. Media storage is
still quite expensive in
cyberspace so the ability to use it efficiently is important. And, the
current G2 media player is, shall
we say, 'somewhat lacking...'. I was disappointed
to see that nice album player that suprsidr
made never make it into mainstream G2.<br>
<br>
At the moment there is no way that I know of to generate a standard XML
or usable RSS playlist from G2 media which
limits me as a user to the player supplied with G2. Copying and
hacking suprsidr's mediaRSS to easily use uploaded
media files en masse outside G2 isn't what I would call
"flexible". I suspect this is one of the reasons G2 is not high on the
"*media* gallery" list from a user viewpoint. XSPF is the embedded
media player standard now, it needs to be fully supported.<br>
<br>
My far cry is this:<br>
There are some really nice GPL &amp; CCommons media players out there
waiting to be fully exploited by someone other than YouTube and
various ad agencies. Ever see a cool ad&nbsp; and wish you could do that on
your own page?<br>
<br>
For example, it wouldn't be too difficult to have
a media player switch skins based on media type. Pushing part
of the page down 200px to open an audio player or 400px to
open a video player is very dooable. It could, even "should" also
provide
ID3 data in an overlay and perhaps reuse the player space to display a
list of
user comments after playback. Like YouTube does for advertising only
less profit motivated. Even a bouncing ball scrolling lyrics box isn't
too far fetched
down the road. <br>
<br>
But if the base product provides a "usable" media player alone, there's
not as much incentive to "do it up right"! <span class="moz-smiley-s1"><span>

I'm fine with that. But realistically, I'm not going to be able to
provide a lot of support for an ID3 player since my time is very
constrained and it's pretty far outside what I think is a reasonable 3rd
party module for the 3.0 release. </pre>
</blockquote>
Initial 3.0 release, no way. But maybe for 3.1 or 3.2, depending on how
fast I can garner help and catch up.<br>
Where I'm stuck is getting the ball rolling. I need a partner with a
bit of experience and some patience and I don't know where to look
other than here.<br>

  <pre wrap="">This is going to work best if you spend some time and take a shot at

Good suggestions. Any suggestions on a current 3rd party module?<br>
