I spent a long time debugging why the new remote version didn't work for me 
and then realised that I was debugging and refactoring gallery_remote.php 
and the new remote was using the new file.  Argh.

After much struggling I got the new version refactored.  If someone reminds 
me I will make a diff.  I need to go to bed at the moment.

I should point out a bug that has been plaguing me - I can't seem to drag 
and drop files into the remote when thumbnails are turned off.  The "add 
pictures" button works.

This is all with the beta builds as available on my site (downloaded from a 
secret nightly build site) :)  I'm running the remote on a Win2k box and 
uploading to an OpenBSD/i386 box.
