Hi Damien et al:
I ran into this problem myself. The answer "take off your
Num Lock" wasn't a good approach, since I'm using fvwm on a
production trading floor. In reading the fvwm man page:
Mouse Button Context Modifiers Function
Defines a mouse binding, or removes the binding if
[...]
Modifiers is any combination of N for no modifiers, C
for control, S for shift, M for Meta, or A for any
modifier. For example, a modifier of SM will apply
when both the Meta and Shift keys are down. X11 modif-
iers mod1 through mod5 are represented as the digits 1
through 5.
...so I played around and determined that NumLock is modifier 3.
Here's the bit of my users' common fvwmrc file that gives them
their root menu no matter what mouse button they press:
# Modifier 3 is NumLock. Since users press it often enough,
# we make this concession so their menus will work!
#
# Button Context Modifi Function
Mouse 1 R N Menu "RootMenu" Nop
Mouse 2 R N Menu "RootMenu" Nop
Mouse 3 R N Menu "RootMenu" Nop
Mouse 1 R 3 Menu "RootMenu" Nop
Mouse 2 R 3 Menu "RootMenu" Nop
Mouse 3 R 3 Menu "RootMenu" Nop
All this works on Solaris; I haven't tried it on other systems.
I hope it helps!
