  by Gerard Torrent (http://freshmeat.net/users/torrentg/)
  Fri, Dec 26th 2008 11:12

Office/Business :: Financial
Scientific/Engineering :: Mathematics

About: CreditCruncher is a program that uses the Monte Carlo method to
compute the credit risk of large portfolios in which assets are mortgages,
loans, bonds, endorsements, or the like (all of them of fixed income with a
policy buy/sell and hold). The default time is simulated using a gaussian
copula, taking into account the transition matrix (or survival function)
and sectorial correlation matrix defined by the user.

Changes: This release adds a long-awaited feature: the t-Student copula
generator. Additionally, a severe bug in the gaussian copula generator was
fixed, which changes the output data format and beautifies the risk report.

About: DBReplicator is a powerful application for network-based
multi-master heterogeneous database replication or filtered
synchronization. It supports heterogeneous replication, bi-directional data
synchronization between any of the supported database backends, application
independence, automatic conflict detection and resolution, a scheduling
facility, verbose debugging using Apache log4j, special characters, and
automatic table creation.

Changes: Methods were added to RBlob.java and RClob.java to override new
Java 6 methods so that compilation works with Java 6. It still gives
warnings if you are using OSE Java, but it builds properly. Memory handling
on creating a snapshot was fixed. SyncXMLCreator.java was fixed. by
removing a call to rs.close() that closed the resultset too early. Many of
the javadoc comments were updated and javadoc build routines were added. A
mysql create publication bug was fixed. A fix was made for compatibility
with Postgres 8.3.

About: Deliantra is a client for Deliantra game servers. It offers an
intuitive user interface for exploring the vast game world, a persistent
minimap, powerful macros and keymaps, dialog-based NPC interaction, and
easy configuration for the skill, spell, and item system. It is based on
Perl, SDL, and OpenGL for high performance on modern systems, and works on
both Unix and Windows. Ports to other platforms should be very easy and are
underway.

Changes: Hidden mapspaces are marked visually by a question mark and are
made as dark as the darkest mapspaces. A crash has been fixed when the user
clicks on the map during login and new tips of the day have been
introduced. Also, more minor stability and visual fixes went into this
release.

About: Extended Python Debugger is a more complete debugger for Python
than the stock pdb.py debugger. It supports, among numerous other things,
debugging threads, non-interactive POSIX-like line tracing, command
options, disassembly of instructions, and stack traces that give better
information for exec statements. Stepping/nexting by default skips over
method/function "defs". It tries to follow gdb's command set unless there
is good reason not to.

[014] - GNU SIP Witch 0.3.7
  by David Sugar (http://freshmeat.net/users/davidsugar/)
  Fri, Dec 26th 2008 18:43

Communications :: Telephony
Office/Business
Security

About: GNU SIP Witch is a pure SIP-based office telephone call server that
supports generic phone system features like call forwarding, hunt groups
and call distribution, call coverage and ring groups, holding, and call
transfer, as well as offering SIP specific capabilities such as presence
and messaging. It supports secure telephone extensions for making calls
over the Internet, and intercept/decrypt-free peer-to-peer audio and video
extensions. It is not a SIP proxy, a multi-protocol telephone server, or an
IP-PBX, and does not try to emulate Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, or Yate.

Changes: Clever support for external devices that use UUIDs for contact to
authenticate peer servers using the contact UUID and the shared
registration secret. This makes SIP authentication management automatic,
since there is no longer a need to have separate peer registration
credentials for such peers.

  by Dov Grobgeld (http://freshmeat.net/users/dovg/)
  Fri, Dec 26th 2008 10:56

Software Development :: Libraries

About: libxnm is a library for parsing and retrieving data from the XNM
file format. XNM stands for "Xnm is Not a Markup language" in the spirit of
GNU recursive definitions. XNM is a simple recursively defined
serialization syntax that is well suited to be used as a storage format for
any program storing or communicating complex datastructures. In contrast to
the XML standard, XNM was built to be as concise as possible. It is built
around four types: the recursive tables and arrays, and the end nodes
strings and binary chunks.

Changes: This version adds an API call for retrieving a list of keys held
by a table. It also makes retrieving an empty key of a value return the
value itself.

can can have several checks. Checks comes in 2 flavors: one that only
prints an error, and one that terminates the current test case too. A

System :: Networking

About: OpenNHRP implements the NBMA Next Hop Resolution Protocol (as
defined in RFC 2332). It makes it possible to create a dynamic multipoint
VPN Linux router using NHRP, GRE, and IPsec. It aims to be Cisco DMVPN
compatible.

Changes: New features in this release are usage of a monotonic system
clock for time keeping (where available), Cisco compatible purging of
unique registrations, detection and handling of MTU information, and
additional configuration options. Unavailability of DNS at startup is no
longer considered a hard error. A new example opennhrp-script was added,
showing how to check IPsec certificates. A bunch of fixes and code cleanups
were done too.

Utilities

About: UDFclient is a userland implementation of the UDF filesystem as
defined by the OSTA group. It is designed to be a study platform and a
run-up to a full read and write (NetBSD) kernel level implementation. It

fetches or writes files recursively. It supports the basic get, mget, put,
mput, mv, rm, mkdir, cd, lcd, free, pwd, and lls command set.

Changes: This release has been enhanced with ideas and features from the
author's NetBSD kernel implementation, enhancing directory operations and
fixing potential lockups on 512 bytes/sector media. NetBSD hard disk
support has been fixed, as well as a few compilation warnings when compiled
with '-Wextra', revealing some possible bugs. cd_disect has been enhanced
to display some more disc types. Some patches are included to fix possible
buffer errors.
