[001] - abcm2ps 4.12.30 (Stable)
  by Guido Gonzato (http://freshmeat.net/users/goccia/)
  Mon, May 28th 2007 03:15

Printing

About: abcm2ps is a package that converts music tunes from ABC format to
PostScript. Based on abc2ps version 1.2.5, it was developed mainly to
print baroque organ scores that have independant voices played on one or
more keyboards, and a pedal-board. It introduces many extensions to the
ABC language that make it suitable for classical music.

Changes: Minor issues with the command "%%withxrefs" and "&" at the start
of tunes were fixed.

[002] - Adaptive Quality of Service Architecture 0.6.1 (qosres)
  by cucinotta (http://freshmeat.net/users/cucinotta/)
  Mon, May 28th 2007 03:14

Multimedia
System :: Operating System Kernels :: Linux

About: AQuoSA is an open architecture for the provisioning of adaptive
Quality of Service functionality into the Linux kernel. The project
features a flexible, portable, and lightweight software architecture for
supporting QoS-related services on top of a general-purpose operating
system as Linux. The architecture is well founded on formal scheduling
analysis and control theoretical results. At the core of the software is
an adaptive Resource Reservation layer that is capable of dynamically
adapting the CPU allocation for QoS-aware applications based on their
run-time requirements.

Changes: This release introduces a couple of flags useful when creating
servers. If QOS_F_PERSISTENT is enabled, a server is allowed to exist
beyond detachment of the last task. If QOS_F_SOFT is enabled, a server's
tasks are scheduled by the Linux default scheduler/policy when outside of
the server reservation. Also, various stability issues in destroying
servers have been fixed.

[003] - Areca Backup 5.0
  by Olivier PETRUCCI (http://freshmeat.net/users/aventin/)
  Mon, May 28th 2007 03:19

System :: Archiving :: Backup

About: Areca is a file backup system that supports data compression (zip /
zip64 format) and encryption, incremental backups, FTP file transfer, a
file history explorer, and many other features. It includes a transaction
mechanism, which guarantees the integrity of your backups. Two user
interfaces are available: a command-line interface (useful for backup
automation) and a graphical user interface (useful for backup
administration).

Changes: The user interface was completely refactored. Areca now uses the
SWT library for better OS integration. This version also includes some FTP
bugfixes, a new "Archive Logical View" feature, a new "Target duplication"
feature, and some other minor enhancements.

  by Scarfy (http://freshmeat.net/users/Scarfy/)
  Mon, May 28th 2007 13:19

Games/Entertainment :: Arcade

About: Blob Wars : Blob and Conquer is a 3rd person action shooter. With
the apparent defeat of Galdov and the reclaiming of the Fire, Time, Space,
and Reality Crystals, the Blobs' battle was only just beginning. Bob had
rescued many Blobs and fought many battles, but now he had an ever bigger
task ahead of him. The Blobs' homeworld is still littered with the alien
forces and Bob once again makes it his task to lead the counter attack.
But even without Galdov the aliens are still extremely well organised.

Changes: Static cutscenes were added, and there are some miscellaneous
bugfixes.

  by Tommi Mäkitalo (http://freshmeat.net/users/tmaek/)
  Mon, May 28th 2007 13:17

Software Development :: Libraries

About: cxxtools is a library of unrelated but useful C++ classes. It
contains an argument parser, a base-64 encoder/decoder, a C++ interface to
iconv, md5-stream for easy MD5 calculation, threading classes, socket
classes, a dynamic exception-safe buffer, a wrapper for dlopen/dlsym, a
pool template (e.g. for a connection pool in a multi-threaded
application), query_params, and a class for easy parsing of CGI parameters
(GET and POST) in a CGI program.

Changes: This is the first stable release published under the LGPL, which
gives users the freedom to use any license when using cxxtools. There are
many small fixes and some new features, like wrapper classes for fork(2)
and pipe(2). Conformance to the ANSI-C++ standard is improved, which makes
cxxtools more portable.

Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
Software Development :: Object Brokering

About: EJOE is a lightweight Java remoting framework built to send and
receive objects through pluggable (de)serialization mechanisms. It offers
a high-performance, simple, and clean object request broker (whereby ORB
is meant in its natural manner and not in its relation with CORBA), with
server and client components for your client/server applications. It's a
highly scalable implementation of the common request-process-response
pattern based on Java NIO. It does support optional remote class loading
to avoid redundant classpath entries, but doesn't require stubs and/or
proxy objects.

Changes: There are many bugfixes, and many new features were added. Remote
reflection, different serialization strategies, support for the concurrency
package of Java 5, Crispy and WSIF extensions, partial HTTP support, and
support for interprocess communication within the same Java virtual
machine are the most important improvements. It is considered stable and
ready for use in production environments.

[014] - gpgdir 1.2
  by Michael Rash (http://freshmeat.net/users/michaelrash/)
  Mon, May 28th 2007 11:26

Security :: Cryptography

About: gpgdir is a Perl script that uses the CPAN GnuPG module to encrypt
and decrypt directories using a GPG key specified in ~/.gpgdirrc. It
supports recursively descending through a directory in order to make sure
it encrypts or decrypts every file in a directory and all of its
subdirectories. All file mtime and atime values are preserved across
encryption and decryption operations. In addition, gpgdir is careful not
to encrypt hidden files and directories.

Changes: This release adds support for installation on Windows under
Cygwin (via the install.pl script). Installation on FreeBSD systems also
works. Support has been added for installing gpgdir within a user home
directory without the need for root access (this requires using the
install.pl script). --agent has been added to acquire the GPG key password
from a running gpg-agent instance. --no-password has been added to use a
GPG key with no associated password (this is not common). The user is not
prompted for a password in this case.

Office/Business :: Groupware

About: Open Blue Lab is a modular ERP, built on a plugin architecture.
Each business domain (such as Groupware, Financial, HCM, PLM, or SCM) is
separated into subdomains which are implemented through plugins. This
architecture permits you to choose only the components that suit your
needs. Each plugin is certified Zero Code, configurable through a GUI, and
may be adapted through the UML models provided.

Changes: In the use case diagram, each use case can be linked directly
with stereotype Col or ColDef defined in the model. In the class diagram,
each property is visible and the name was added to each extremity of the
association. The big new feature is the ability to configure the view and
the layout directly in a new dialog on class. Comments are automatically
generated and connected to the class. Moreover, the diagram now shows
directly whether a class contains a view or a layout.

[029] - Port Scan Attack Detector 2.0.7
  by Michael Rash (http://freshmeat.net/users/michaelrash/)
  Mon, May 28th 2007 11:27

System :: Networking :: Firewalls
System :: Networking :: Monitoring

About: The Port Scan Attack Detector (psad) is a collection of three
system daemons that are designed to work with the Linux iptables
firewalling code to detect port scans and other suspect traffic. It
features a set of highly configurable danger thresholds (with sensible
defaults), verbose alert messages, email alerting, DShield reporting, and
automatic blocking of offending IP addresses. Psad incorporates many of
the packet signatures included in Snort to detect various kinds of
suspicious scans, and implements the same passive OS fingerprinting
algorithm used by p0f.

Changes: A bugfix to define a custom 'source' definition for syslog-ng
daemons (this fixes a problem on SuSE systems where the existing syslog-ng
reconfig caused the daemon to not start). A bugfix to allow specific
signatures to be ignored by setting SID values of zero in
/etc/psad/snort_rule_dl. An -X command line argument to allow the user to
delete any psad chains (in auto-response mode). This is a synonym for the
iptables -X command line argument.

draw graphics.

Changes: DATE was modified. CONVERT was rewritten to fix a security bug.
Absolute paths are added to all external programs. A minor bug was fixed
in recherche_type() because all external functions were case-insensitive
when they were evaluated from RPN expressions. The HELP function was
rewritten to be more friendly. An external wrapper (rplplot) was written
to force usage of gnuplot provided by RPL/2. Gnuplot was added to the
source tree. Lapack was upgraded to 3.1.1, GSL was upgraded to 1.9. The
RPL_TMP_PATH environment variable was added. A major bug was fixed in
