System :: Filesystems
System :: Recovery Tools

About: anyfs-tools allows you to recover and convert filesystems while
using minimal extra disk space. Unlike other recovery tools, anyfs-tools
doesn't copy all the files found on other disks (or partitions), but only
saves information about the location of the file blocks to an external
inode table. After recovery, a user may mount the damaged filesystem with
anyfs and the external inode table and then interact with all recovered
files with any program.

Changes: The package was debianized. Building with xfsprogs version 2.8.11
and later was fixed.

Software Development :: Code Generators
Software Development :: Compilers
Software Development :: Libraries

About: Cibyl is a programming environment that allows compiled C programs
to execute on J2ME-capable phones. Cibyl uses GCC to compile the C
programs to MIPS binaries, and these are then recompiled into Java
bytecode. The programs are not parsed during runtime, and Cibyl is
therefore relatively well-performing. With Cibyl, games written in C can
be ported to J2ME without switching language.

Changes: API handling was redesigned and is now much more like a standard
C environment. Most file (stdio.h) handling was added. Unaligned
instruction access was implemented. Global constructors and destructors
are now supported and a number of bugs were fixed.

  Sat, Nov 18th 2006 23:51

Communications :: Email
Communications :: Email :: Post-Office
Communications :: Email :: Post-Office :: IMAP

About: The DBMAIL package replaces the normal UNIX mailing system. All
email and user data is stored in a database. You can create an unlimited
number of email accounts, which can be checked using the POP3 or IMAP
protocol. Users can maintain their own set of email addresses. It is more
scalable, more secure, and faster than traditional mail systems. DBMAIL
has storage drivers for PostgreSQL and MySQL, and it has authentication
drivers for PostgreSQL, MySQL, and LDAP.

Changes: Loadable database, authentication, and Sieve sorting modules were
added. The SQLite database is supported. Server side IMAP sorting and
searching was highly optimized. Performance was dramatically improved all
around. Version 2.2.0 had a small but serious bug in handling non-blocking
sockets, so 2.2.1 fixes this.

  by josch (http://freshmeat.net/users/hofmann/)
  Sat, Nov 18th 2006 04:09

Multimedia :: Graphics :: Viewers

About: flimsel is a minimalistic digitial image browser based on the fltk
toolkit. It displays thumbnails of images given on the command line. It is
intended to be used in digital image processing shell scripts. flimsel uses
the very fast epeg library for JPEG thumbnail generation. flimsel outputs
keyboard hotkeys and file names of selected images to stdout. Images whose
filenames are written to stdin will be reloaded. The flimsel.sh script in
the examples directory uses this to implement basic image manipulations on
selected images.

Changes: Images are now displayed while loading. The user can now start to
work immediately. A private Scroll class has been added to work around
coordinate overflows in fltk-1.1. The example script has also been
improved.

  Sat, Nov 18th 2006 14:47

Multimedia :: Graphics
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries

About: Imagero is a Java library for reading images and reading/editing
image metadata. Supported file types include BMP, GIF, TIFF, PNG, JNG,
MNG, JPEG (including 12-bit grey), PSD, PBM, PGM, PPM, TGA, EPS, EPSI, and
EPSF. The following RAW file types are also supported, at least partially:
MRW, CRW, NEF, DCR, and DNG. It can read thumbnails, read metadata (IPTC,
EXIF, and XMP), edit metadata, get image width and height, get the number
of images contained in a file, define an area to read, add a
ProgressListener, choose an image channel to read, set a scale factor, set
subsampling (JPEG only), read an image (or channel) directly into an array
or BufferedImage, use ICC Profiles for accurate color converting, and
split and merge TIFF files.

Changes: Support for JAI was added, which loads an image as RenderedImage.
Two image viewers were added: JAIViewer, for PlanarImages, and IRIViewer,
for RenderedImages created by Imagero. New features include asynchronous
tile loading, fast scrolling without GUI freezing, low memory footprint,
avoiding OutOfMemoryErrors by using SoftReferences, and the ability to
cache tiles in memory or files.

[035] - Simple persistence for Java 2.0.1
  by Robert (http://freshmeat.net/users/demonofthesystem/)
  Sat, Nov 18th 2006 04:01

Database :: API
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries

About: Simple persistence for Java is a full featured, powerful
object/relational persistence and query library. It has a unique
philosophy of simpleness and ease of use: it does not require config
files, annotations, code generation, code "enhancing", or any kind of
tools to be used, not even the database interface itself. It handles
simple Java beans and its query service returns lists. Despite its
simpleness, under the hood the library takes care of all the necessary
logic: transaction visibility, result list paging, keys and ids, table
creation/modification, class relations, inheritance/polymorphism, case
sensitiveness, and much more. It currently supports: Oracle, MySQL, and
PostgreSQL.

Changes: The java_cup-runtime dependency jarfile was fixed. A List and Map
in-place modification bug was fixed.

in minutes/distance as requested by runners. All PolarViewer panels are now
also GNOME HIG-compliant. An initial Dutch translation was added.
