  by napi (http://freshmeat.net/users/napi/)
  Tue, May 9th 2006 05:54

Software Development :: Compilers

About: Axiomatic Multi-Platform C (AMPC) is a C compiler suite with an IDE
that generates Java bytecode (Java class files) to produce platform
independent applications. This is for Write Once Run Anywhere (WORA) with
C. AMPC supports a very large subset of ANSI C (1989). It can be used to
develop new applications using C as well as port existing applications
written in C to run on JVM enabled devices. A JNI (JVM Native Interface)
feature is available for calling native C or C++ functions. Also, numerous
Java methods can be called from AMPC. The asm() directive can be used to
embed Jasmin assembly code within C source code.

Changes: A couple of problems in the math library regarding use of the
atoD function were fixed.

About: csvdiff is a simple script for comparing two files of
comma-separated values with each other. In contrast to standard diff, it
will show the number of the record where the difference occurs, the column

Changes: keytouch-config and keytouch-keyboard now have a German
translation. In keytouchd the active keyboard grab is now canceled before
executing a plugin or program. This makes it possible for plugins to
simulate key presses using XFakeKeyEvent(). In the Amixer plugin, the
child process that creates and updates the volume bar will now exit when
it receives a SIGINT, SIGQUIT, or SIGTERM. The common actions plugin now
has a "Close Window" function. An F-keys plugin that emulates key presses
of the F1-F12 keys was added.

Software Development :: Libraries

About: The Legion of the Bouncy Castle Java Cryptography API provides a
lightweight cryptography API in Java, a provider for the JCE and JCA, a
clean-room implementation of the JCE 1.2.1, generators for Version 1 and
Version 3 X.509 certificates, generators for Version 2 X.509 attribute
certificates, PKCS12 support, and APIs for dealing with S/MIME, CMS, OCSP,
TSP, and OpenPGP. Versions are provided for the J2ME, and JDK 1.0-1.5.

Changes: This release fixed an error in the addition of an EC point under
Fp that could result in an ArithmeticException or an incorrect addition.
The n value for the EC curve prime192v2 was fixed. Other issues addressed
include some problems with OCSP classes and close() on the BCPG
ArmoredInputStream. Support for adding general extensions to CRL entries
by the X509V2CRLGenerator class was added and a RoleSyntax implementation
was added to the X.509 ASN.1 package. Upgrading is recommended if you are
using elliptic curves.

[034] - Network PDF Server YAFPC-Appliance 0.99
  by Wolfgang Ullrich (http://freshmeat.net/users/ullrich/)
  Tue, May 9th 2006 07:50

About: YAFPC-Appliance is a CD-ROM image based on KNOPPIX technology and
the PDF composer/printer/mailer YAFPC. Any PC booted from this CD can act
as a PDF print server and provide an unlimited number of network shared
virtual PDF printers. The system requirements are low. System
configuration can be done via a Web browser from any workstation in your
network. Virtual shared printers can be configured to apply letterheads,
watermarks, and appendices to all printed documents. After printing, a
document is sent to its owner by email, or can be accessed in a shared
folder on the server. Deployment is very simple.

Changes: The preinstalled printer driver for Windows was changed to
Ghostscript PDF in order to enable a larger number of paper sizes
(including custom size) and printing without margins. The system
administrator can now permit users to install and configure printer
drivers from their Windows clients. A new "Howto Install to USB Stick"
document was added.

[049] - Simple persistence for Java 1.3.1

  Tue, May 9th 2006 06:00

Database :: API
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries

About: Simple persistence for Java is an object/relation mapping framework
for Java. It is designed to be easy to use. There are no XML files to
write, no tables to create, no IDs to generate, and no primary keys to
fiddle with; just point it to the database, check the API documentation
for three basic methods, and code away. It supports transactions,
polymorphism, has its own simple query language (very similar to SQL), and
can handle object references, lists, and maps.

Changes: Byte array support was added. The query language's "order by"
clause was fixed, and now it has the same syntax as other terms, so it can
reference attributes in arbitrary depth. Also, it can now reference
attributes not contained in the returned class. Some minor Oracle related

Software Development :: Libraries

About: Tulip is a software system dedicated to the visualization of huge
graphs. It manages graphs with up to 500,000 elements (node and edges) on
a personal computer (PIII 600, 256MB RAM). Its SuperGraph technology
architecture provides the following features: 3D visualizations, 3D
modifications, plugin support, support for clusters and navigation,
automatic graph drawing, automatic clustering of graphs, automatic
selection of elements, and automatic coloring of elements according to a
metric.

Changes: Support for Qt 4.0 and Mac OS X was added. Tulip can now be built
on Mac OS X. It has been successfully built on 10.3.9 (Panther). The Qt 4
version can be built on all platforms, but does not work correctly on
Windows due to an OpenGL bug.

Multimedia :: Sound/Audio
Multimedia :: Video

About: TunaPie is a directory browser for Internet radio and TV streams.
As of 0.9.6, it is compatible with the Icecast directory as well as the
Shoutcast (winamp) stream directory service. Tunapie allows you to search
for streams and then launch your audio player (XMMS) or NSV viewer
(Mplayer) of choice. It also allows recording of audio and video streams
using streamripper.

Changes: A fix has been added to work around a long-standing problem with
mplayer (all versions up to current CVS), allowing it to now play adult
streams correctly. Left and right arrow keys now switch between windows.
Intermittent failure of Icecast search has been fixed. The implementation
of server download and update has been improved. Browse buttons have been
added for choosing the location of applications in preferences. A problem
with the program not starting up if an adult stream list was selected has
been fixed. Some code cleanup has been performed.
