[001] - Access_user Class  1.86
  by olaf (http://freshmeat.net/users/olaf2/)
  Fri, Nov 18th 2005 01:19

Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes

About: Access_user Class is an easy to use system for protecting pages and
registering users. The main features are user login, user registration,
page protection, forgotten password recovery, and email-based account
activation. The class is powered by MySQL and PHP sessions. Inside the
package are examples for all primary methods.

Changes: A small bug was fixed inside the update_user_by_admin() method in
the admin_user.php file. There is extra information to read about the
database table name convention inside the documentation file. An example
of how to show the real name in place of the login name was added inside
the file example.php.

[002] - Apache Cocoon 2.1.8

  Fri, Nov 18th 2005 03:57

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries

About: Apache Cocoon is a Web development framework built around the
concepts of separation of concerns and component-based Web development.
Cocoon implements these concepts around the notion of "component
pipelines", each component on the pipeline specializing on a particular
operation. This makes it possible to use a Lego(tm)-like approach in
building Web solutions, hooking together components into pipelines without
any required programming.

Changes: This release adds some new features, fixes some bugs, and
improves performance and usability.

Security

About: Arudius (formerly Securinix) is a live CD Linux distribution based
on Slackware (Minislack) and Linux Live scripts. It contains an extensive
set of software tools used by IT security professionals for penetration
testing and vulnerability analysis. Its goal is to include the most
comlete set of useful security tools and still maintain a small footprint.

Changes: Fixes several bugs that caused the system to complain at boot
time about errors in mounting the root filesystem. Please note that this
is not a bug in Arudius but a bug in UnionFS (used for live CDs), which
will be fixed soon according to the authors.

[016] - Connect Daily Web Calendar 3.2.6

  Fri, Nov 18th 2005 11:14

Internet
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries

About: Connect Daily, a Web-based calendaring system, allows multiple
users to add and edit calendar events using a Web browser. The calendar
display can be directly integrated into your Web site. It provides
advanced capabilities for managing resources and facilities. The approval
processes allow many users to edit calendars, with the assurance that all
items added are approved. It supports event download to MS Outlook and
Palm OS PDAs. Export to iCal clients like KOrganizer, Evolution, and Apple
iCal is supported. Authentication to LDAP directories is also supported.

Changes: This release adds an option to force a specific item style for
events with no resources assigned. It adds an option to specify that the
default page on login be calendar, and not the Welcome page. Numerous
issues in the Gantt chart relating to time zone shifting have been fixed.
An optimization has been made to reduce database calls when viewing rollup
calendars. There are several localization fixes. Email subjects are now
correct if they contain accented characters. French email templates were
saved as ISO-8859-1 when they should have been saved as UTF-8.

[017] - delsafe 0.0.73
  by psds (http://freshmeat.net/users/psdasilva/)
  Fri, Nov 18th 2005 13:48

About: delsafe is a set of utilities to hopefully allow you to recover
recently deleted files. Basically, when you delete or in certain cases
overwrite a file the original file is moved into a trash can. It does this
by overriding the original unlink, rename, open, and fopen library calls
using the Linux LD_PRELOAD mechanism. Trash cans are placed on top of each
mount point and are accessible by each user directly or through links
placed in the user's home directory. This makes deletion very fast
because, in fact, it is only a renaming. To each filename in the trash can
is appended a time/version stamp.

Changes: Now, by default, delsafe_clean does not run on a laptop when
powered by battery only. There is a --battery (-b) switch that enables it
to run in a normal way or without compressing files. Type delsafe_clean -h
for help on this. A bug that caused undel to not work properly when the
--date (-d) switch was specified was fixed. A bug that prevented Install
from working properly for non-Gentoo distributions was fixed. Some bugs in
the documentation were fixed. The library libdelsafe.so remains unchanged
for a long time. It may be considered stable.

About: dia2sql is yet another dia2sql converter. It uses libxml2 to parse
UML objects from a Dia diagram and generates corresponding SQL code to
create the tables specified in the UML diagram. It takes one or more
filenames and outputs to stdout. Multiple files are considered as one
database by merging multiple tables with the same name.

  Fri, Nov 18th 2005 03:50

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes

About: Easy PHP Upload is a PHP upload class that can be used to upload
files with a client browser to a remote Web server. It features the
ability to upload multiple files, a file-extension check, a maximum
file-size limitation, and a flexible error reporting system. The class is
extremely easy to use and comes with full working examples. It is
compatible with the PHP directive "register_globals=off".

Changes: The photo upload extension was modified to make the script more
intelligent. Now its possible to define a maximum limit for the x and y
size. The script will automatically decide which size (x or y) is not
within the limit and will resize the image. There is now more information
about which variable holds the filename after the upload.

[036] - Hydrate 2.0 beta2
  by David Chamberlin (http://freshmeat.net/users/dawidcha/)
  Fri, Nov 18th 2005 10:56

Database
Software Development :: Code Generators
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks

About: Hydrate is a Java mapping tool that lets you lay an object model
over relational and XML data and move information quickly and efficiently
between these three representations. Its strength lies in working with
existing relational or XML databases, over whose schemas you have little
or no control. Through Hydrate, you can perform complex calculations and
reporting that are best expressed in high-level problem domain modelling
offered by an object-oriented language. Hydrate solves real-world problems
in a practical way, is flexible, robust, and fast.

Changes: This release solves a number of usability issues with the 'Query
Builder', a tool that assists you in writing the definition files that map
the results of a database query to your object model. The layout of the
window is now more informative and colour coded for more intuitive usage.
Better error checking means more useful feedback and better validation,
warnings, and suggestions when saving the queries. Query editor windows
are now modeless, and queries are run in a background thread.

About: Lua is a programming language originally designed for extending
applications, but also frequently used as a general-purpose, stand-alone
language. It combines simple procedural syntax (similar to Pascal) with
powerful data description constructs based on associative arrays and
extensible semantics. It is dynamically typed, interpreted from bytecodes,
and has automatic memory management, making it ideal for configuration,
scripting, and rapid prototyping. It is implemented as a small library of
C functions, written in ANSI C, and compiles unmodified in all known
platforms. The implementation goals are simplicity, efficiency,
portability, and low embedding cost. It has been used on games such as
Vendetta, FarCry, Homeworld2, Painkiller, and World of Warcraft.

  Fri, Nov 18th 2005 11:16

Internet :: Proxy Servers
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management
System :: Clustering/Distributed Networks

About: TCPfork is a userland TCP proxy with advanced load balancing
capabilities. Its core features are the ability to load balance on a
"least connection" basis and the ability to take the machine load into
account ("least load" or "least resource" load balancing). This is
implemented by using the bngagent UDP protocol. It performs "TCP open"
health checks by default and allows the use of external health check
scripts. TCPfork 2.x introduces a highly optimized multithreading
connection scheduler, allowing fast processing of high numbers of
concurrent connections.

Changes: This release has optional support for client IP address sessions
and destination server stickiness (the new -S option). The timeout and
"connection refused" handling of "just failed" destination servers has
been improved. The manuals have been updated accordingly.
