album is a HTML/XHTML photo album generator which recursively descends
directories. It automatically crops your thumbnails so that they are all
the same shape. See the example albums for a good demonstration.

Changes: Fixes for quotes in filenames (all filename characters should be
okay now).

[002] - ARLA 0.35.2 (DEFAULT)
by daniel pearson (http://freshmeat.net/users/danielpear/)
Wednesday, January 31st 2001 09:05

Arla is a free AFS client and server implementation. The main goal is to
make a fully functional client with all capabilities of normal AFS. Other
implemented things are all the normal management tools and a server.

Changes: Bugfixes were made for compatibility with non-BSD platforms, and
for FreeBSD Linux emulation. A klog-like program called kalog that talkes
directly to the ka-server was added. The advertising clause was removed
from the license. arlad was split into a command-line client (arla-cli) and
a daemon (arlad). Man-pages were added. The case in which there is no root
volume when starting is now handled. The installation procedure on Solaris
was improved. Stability on Solaris/SMP was improved. Even more bug fixes
were made.

Cfengine is a tool for setting up and maintaining BSD and System-5-like
operating system optionally attached to a TCP/IP network. You can think of
cfengine as a very high level language, much higher level than Perl or
shell: a single statement can result in many hundreds of operations being

system administration tasks, and allows you to build on its strengths with
your own scripts. You can also use it as a netwide front-end for `cron'.

[032] - MKRDNS 2.0PRE1 (DEFAULT)
by Theo Van Dinter (http://freshmeat.net/users/felicity/)
Wednesday, January 31st 2001 11:27

mkrdns is a small Perl script which reads your named.boot or named.conf
file to find all domains/networks for which you are authoritative. It will
then read all of the forward zone files and generate the PTR records which
it inserts in the reverse zone maps. mkrdns will also do a few "lint"-like
checks and report oddities to you.

Changes: Duplicated pieces of code have been replaced, and the code was
made more maintainable. Some sections were rewritten to be more efficient
(time and memory). A check was added to verify that A records have an IP,
not a name (RFC 1035). The ability to use a 32-bit checksum if MD5 isn't
available was added. mkrdns will now look in other "standard" directories
besides /etc for the default configuration file. Support for chroot
environments was added.

directive to automagically include output from other URIs at the beginning
and ending of a Web page. It can be used to wrap documents for a standard
look and feel for a site (or to insert banners on any given document in a
site). Currently known to support mod_perl, PHP and Apache JServ. Should
support just about any type of handler.

Changes: This release fixes the error document problems.

noffle is a news (nntp) server optimized for few users and low speed
dial-up connections to the Internet. It adds offline reading capabilities
to existing news readers.

Changes: First stable release. Debug logging is now disabled by default.
In the 1.0pre8 release, debug logging was enabled in the standard settings,
which slowed down Noffle considerably and is even suspected to cause
timeouts at the remote server when querying group lists.

them for repeated deaths, allowing them to be safely disabled temporarily
so as to not tie up system resources. In addition, it also changes the
directory to that of the service, and performs a chroot on that directory,
changing it's uid and gid to the actual uid and gid the service will run as
before executing the service.

[042] - SCAIN V3.0-TEST1 (V3.0)
by Patrizio Bruno (http://freshmeat.net/users/rustino/)
Wednesday, January 31st 2001 09:24

SCAIN (Simple Crypto Algorithm Ideated by a Novice) is a simple
cryptographic algorithm that generates different output with the same input
and the same password. It uses pass phrases and keys of arbitrary lengths;
the idea is to hide the key in the cipher based on the password.

Changes: This version does not yet implement key-hiding and it's only
intended for developers, since no utilities are supplied. It features a
total code rewrite to make it simpler and faster, (multiple) bit
trasposition on 64bits and 64-multiples bits, unlimited key length, and
better speed and reliability. It uses no dynamic memory allocation/free

[046] - SMARTY PHP TEMPLATE ENGINE 1.2.2 (DEFAULT)
by Monte Ohrt (http://freshmeat.net/users/mohrt/)
Wednesday, January 31st 2001 11:17

Smarty is a template engine for PHP. One of the unique aspects about Smarty
is that it compiles the templates into native php scripts upon the first
execution. After that, it just executes the compiled PHP scripts.
Therefore, there is no costly template file parsing for each request. It is
also extremely extensible with custom functionality you can add yourself.

Changes: This release fixes a bug that would not respect nested template
directories and would put all compiled files into the top level directory,
a bug using $PHP_VERSION insotead of the environment variable PHP_VERSION,
and a couple of small warnings. Minor updates to the documentation are
also included.

[047] - STUNNEL 3.13 (DEFAULT)
by Michal Trojnara (http://freshmeat.net/users/mtrojnar/)
Wednesday, January 31st 2001 11:47

The stunnel program is designed to work as an SSL encryption wrapper
between remote client and local (inetd-startable) or remote server. It can
be used to add SSL functionality to commonly used inetd daemons like POP2,
POP3, and IMAP servers without any changes in the programs' code. It will
negotiate an SSL connection using the OpenSSL or SSLeay libraries. It calls
the underlying crypto libraries, so stunnel supports whatever cryptographic
algorithms you compiled into your crypto package.

Changes: This release removes all zombies appearing in local mode, and
supports 64-bit machines, as well as OOB data.
