Hmmm... very interesting that you bring that up.

IMO the example given could as easily be construed to be 

"An Art Deco Lamp" is part of the product description

"lighting"  is an (additional or a synonym for a) product category

User searches against the database could be constructed to query one or
both of the description/category fields at the store owner's option.

The usual difficulty is getting the store owner to develop the additional
category entries that are above and beyond those used in their own
catalog/vocabulary.

What think thee?
