Well, that doesn't sound good, does it?  

I'm afraid you're going to have to dig in and figure out what the
linker is doing.   It sounds like the issue is connected to readline
somehow.  If so, bsqldb (and in fact most of the utilities) will work
but e.g. sqsh won't.
