The more proper question should actually be:
"Why doesn't he need 15, 16, 24, or 32-bit color?"
Running higher bitdepths requires more data across the wire - and in a lot
of cases one doesn't need anymore than 15 or 16-bit color on the remote
display.
Change your native bitdepth to 16-bit and connect to an NX server (it
must be a new session because NX is too handicapped to be able to adapt
to this on the fly) and then compare the responsiveness and bandwidth
requirements against 32-bit.
