The error might be due to --backingstore="1".

I think it was Thorsten Sandfuchs, who posted a solution similar
to this some days ago somewhere:

in nxnode - function node_start_agent()

after the line

[ -n "$backingstore" ] && B="-bs $backingstore"

insert these two lines:

[ -n "$backingstore" -a "$backingstore" != "1" ] && B="-bs $backingstore"
[ -n "$backingstore" -a "$backingstore" = "1" ] && B="+bs"

This works for me using linux nxclient version 2.0.0-98.
