| According to google others have had wierd segfault issues with using
| "scm_make_hook".

It is time to revisit this issue again. gh_*  are obsoleted by
scm_* functions.

I am using Guile 1.6.7.  Let me try to bring those changes back and
see why it is failing. Worth fixing this bug.
