Ah, that'd normally be handled by the text entry widget in the toolkit.
I don't know of any standard program that monitors for typing to determine
when to hide the mouse in other applications - it's tricky to monitor input
events without interfering with apps (though obviously not impossible as
xspy & other keyloggers have long proven).
