Hi Dan,
echo $COLUMNS -> 80 # as expected
'stty columns 80' FIXES it # unexpectedly :)
I'm reiterating:
1. Problem never happened before (up and including 2.16.0)
2. Still doesn't happen on vesa driver
3. Any of the "fixes" (reboot, log out/in, TERM=linux, yours) fixes it for good,
i.e. the command line wraparound (to new line) never gets broken again no matter
how many times I go to X and back.
