Those modelines worked fine on the HDMI input of the projector. Only
the 60p worked on the VGA input, the 50p one did not synchronize.

The projector did ultimately provided EDID over HDMI, but not over VGA.

The worst thing is that i could fudge modelines to have different 
refresh rates such as 48Hz, and the projector would display them, but it
would not actually show them at the target refresh rate, but instead the
refresh rate that the LCD uses to display seems to be selected by some
other logic. And it's actually showing that it's using either 24, 50 or
60 Hz (and i haven''t been able to generate any signal to have it use 24 fps
other than the 'native' 1920x1080@24 EDID.
