Right you are.
I ended up doing a 'yum install xorg-x11-server-devel 
xorg-x11-server-source' and the previously missing xorg-server.m4 file 
miraculously appeared. I'm running the compile now. Probably a lot 
faster and waaaay fewer errors than before.
