and what about to provide an option into xorg.conf to let the user specify
native LVDS mode or even whole modeline?

Moreover, a laptop usualy possesses pre-configured LVDS, i.e., Pipe is
pre-configured to native mode as well as DPLL registers. You should consider
to read these values as a fallback.
