I made a jhbuild moduleset for the modular release, that might do what 
you want.  See

	http://freedesktop.org/~krh/xorg-jhbuild/xorg-jhbuild.html

for instructions.  It will require further tweaking to work with DRI, 
but it's a nice way to build just what you need and keep the 
installation isolated.
