I can confirm both. I have not yet reported it because I wanted to debug
it first, ... and thought the Nvidia binary driver problem might be due
to an hevily optimized custom build ...
But now that you mention it, I think it is a general problem.
I used the vanilla X.org 6.8.1 release, selfbuilt and optimized entirely
for pentium-mmx w/ gcc-3.4.3.
