After all this discussion, I am a bit confused on how to proceed and which
channels/tools to use for point 2 and 4.

Somebody on the mailing list proposed a mentor list for new commiters, but
i doubt that it is up already. It was proposed only a few days before the
breakin.

Since I belong to that class and I want to do the *right thing*, Could you be
so kind to explain me how to do it in the right way?
