Hmm, could you describe in more detail what you are looking for?

A thing to note is that many (most, even) distributions don't support "per use 
installations" (as in installations in ~/).

Autopackage [1] uses the XDG standards whenever possible, but unfortunately 
many distributions don't.  Or the newest versions of distributions do, but 
many people are still happily running their old versions.
