Why would the VCGT not be stored in the 'vcgt' tag?

I'm pretty sure gnome-screensaver has been fixed to "repair" the VCGT
if it uses that for dimming. I'm not sure it makes a lot of sense to
poll the gamma ramps detecting unauthorized changes.
