It's equivalent to 'make' :-)

make buildworld does a whole bunch of other stuff like dependency
ordering, to make sure new versions of tools get built before things that
depend on them, making sure the system gets rebuilt only against headers
and libraries built within the build directory (not system versions),
etc.

That's why you should only ever do make buildworld unless you know what
you're doing and how to fix it when it breaks.
