I built a new SMP kernel with

options DDB
options INVARIANT_SUPPORT
options INVARIANTS
options WITNESS
options KTRACE

I did 'df | lpr' successfully 3 times. Then 'lpr .cshrc' caused the
system to freeze. There was no activity on the printer. I could not
get a trace. The system just locked - no response to the keyboard.
Caps Lock did not turn-on the led. Ctl-alt-esc did nothing.

Each time I caused a transaction on lpt0, I got at least one stray irq 7.

I booted today's UP kernel, on which I had earlier today successfully
completed a 'make -j36 world'. I did 5 `df | lpr` successfully and
'lpr .cshrc' several times. I did see the stray irq 7's, but, no ill
effects.

This is looking like some sort of timing issue or race condition with
my machine. It is relatively old, slow machine.

I tried 3 times to do a 'make -j36 world' on earlier SMP kernels and all
failed, after running between 2 and 6 hours.
