Ah. You do you have the tape set to fixed blocksizes?
Try
mt -f /dev/nrsa0 stat
If the blocksize field is nonzero, try setting
mt -f /dev/nrsa0 blocksize 0
And see if that helps. Sigh. I need to revisit this area and ignore the folks
who've been telling me to not fix EOT handling.
