Nope, UFS_DIRHASH is just another layer of caching the kernel does,
nothing more.

You're thinking of when the new dirpref code went into the kernel, which
changed where new directories were located on the disk.  In order to take
full advantage of that change, you would have to start from scratch.
(That would not be necessary if the disk was mostly empty, however.)
