Personally, I always used the following options with portupgrade:

	portupgrade -aDDPRrv

You could tack a 'y' to the end if you wanted to answer yes to
everything. There is also the 's' switch, but since you are already at
root prior to running the portupgrade program, it doesn't seem to make
very much sense.
