UNIX Systems Administrator I, Systems Operations

Reports To: 
Manager, Systems Operations

Job Description: 
This position consists of hardening, refining and rapid deployment of FreeBSD systems \
into IronPort’s extensive LAN of 200+ production machines.  Day to day requirements \
include installing machines, and performing maintenance on production servers at San \
Francisco Data Center. 

Primary Responsibilities: 
Successful candidate will be working on IT team deploying systems in onsite \
datacenter and some systems in San Francisco data center as well, and must have \
appropriate transportation to collocation facility.  The job requires ability to use \
assets efficiently, think outside of the box, and be creative with solutions.   \
Candidate needs to be able to take on multiple projects/procedures from more Sr. UNIX \
administrators and work on multiple installations at the same time.  Candidate must \
be able to lift up to 40 pounds and be comfortable installing machines in collocation \
facility.  Candidate must be self-sufficient and must have strong analytical and \
troubleshooting skills.  Attention to detail and ability to learn process fast is a \
must.    

Required Experience and Skills: 
•Installation and configuration of production UNIX servers.
•FreeBSD experience a plus
•Tier-1 24/7 support and ability to be on call and carry a pager
•Strong knowledge of DNS, IP subnetting 
•Tier 1 Support/Administration of lab servers
•Rapid deployment of UNIX servers
•Maintenance on production servers
•Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, Routing
•Strong knowledge of Switching and VLANS
•Work with MySQL a plus
•3+ years experience with UNIX/Linux administration 
•1+ years experience deploying mission critical UNIX servers 
•Must possess ability to participate in multiple projects simultaneously 
•Must possess strong verbal, written, and analytical skills, and the ability to \
communicate and interact with all members of project

their day to day jobs in production and development.
