I seem to remember that the EFI code on a mac will only boot from an HFS+
partition if the disk is partitioned using GPT. It will boot from a MBR partitioned
disk but only after waiting about 45 seconds before trying the MBR boot. I
would like to avoid this delay.

Is this (still) true?
