There is a setting in script.json that should make this easier -

{
    "ECMAScript" : {
        "javascript.recompile.minimumInterval" : "60000",

As we were tuning performance factors in 4.0, we changed this from 100
to 60000 for the default config. This does have the unfortunate side-effect
of making changes to scripts not appear immediately after they are saved.
To get this behavior back, just change this number back down to 100.
