FWIW, most transparent proxies don't properly support WebDAV methods. 
Therefore, you need to bypass it or disable it - as Paul says, an easy way 
is to use https instead.  And, if you are a committer, you have to use SSL 
anyway in order to check in your changes.  (http is read-only.)  -- justin
