 I first want to thank everyone who replied on and off the list, your posts=
 gave me plenty of ideas on where to go next.

 From the person who guessed it was autocad 2002, you where exactly right. =
Taking a little bit of info from numerous posts I narrowed it down to a n=
etware client problem. I figured out that I could not get into safe mode =
with networking enabled so I moved my concentration to that area. When I =
tried to remove the netware client from within safe mode I couldn't. So I=
 went hunting on novell's site on how to accomplish it without being able=
 to boot into regular mode. I found a tid (10067040) that had me do the f=
ollowing:

Start regedit and goto:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Change the GinaDLL value from "NWGina.dll" to "MSGina.dll", (don't include =
the qoutes), then goto

HKLM\Software\Novell\Network Provider\Initial Login

Change "Login When NWGina Not Loaded" to "No"

 When I did that and rebooted I was able to get the system up in regular mo=
de. I then uninstalled the client, rebooted, re-installed the client and =
everything worked. Just to be safe I dumped his data to a server pulled t=
he network cable out of the wall and I am going to rebuild the box over t=
he weekend. If nothing else the user learned his lesson the hard way beca=
use he had to spend a full day with me.
