You can avoid that by setting  --prop:input/joysticks/js[1]=0
(This isn't an Easter Egg. The 0 is only an invalid joystick
configuration, but fgfs refuses to overwrite it nevertheless,
so joystick #1 will be ignored.)

Apart from that I agree with Tiago's analysis.
