You miss the point: What I deem OT is a discussion about the shortcomings
of German keyboard layouts. We can't change them, anyway.
That a solution for non-US-keyboards is necessary was never argued about,
and actually discussed a few times already. It's just that nobody found
it annoying enough to fix it.

That would mean that we had to consider the layout of every keyboard
out there. And describing this in the documentation would be *the*
horror. "Press the second button from the left in the middle row (next
to the Control button, except if your Control button is the lowest, in
which case it's left from the CapsLock button ...".

But you could contribute some code.  ;-)
