The most recent Wings stage has to have been in the last year.

It is fairly clear, in the rulemaking process that the FAA follows to
establish various limits, that the numbers are selected to reduce the
_total_ aviation accident rate to a socially acceptable level.
In consequence, since most pilots are at reduced risk by keeping well
clear of those limits, the few pilots who only just meet the limits are
accepting a disproportionately large fraction of the accident risk.

(This applies to maintenance as well as to pilot proficiency)
