I've seen something similar to Joe - if your next hop is not reachable -
perhaps a typo in what you added, or the interface down, then the routes
don't show up in the route table.

I was once having a problem with an interface flapping, which happened
to be the interface my default route went out. When the interface went
down, the default route would be removed from the dynamic routing table.
Problem was, it wasn't always being re-added when the interface came
back up.

Otherwise, I don't think there is a maximum - I've seen systems with
several hundred routes, without problem.

I've seen this before when I was configuring an new IP740 that WASN'T
attached to the network.  The netstat -rn wouldn't see them but Voyager
did.  When placed on the network it would be recognized by netstat.  I
do have one Nokia with 160 static routes and if you have less than that,
it shouldn't be a routing issue but my version of ipso is 3.7.1.
