When I previously attempted to install all of the emacs variants, I did so with the \
fink command: fink install emacsen. From there, fink presents me with the choice of \
installing one of the seven variant packages I listed in the other fink-beginners \
post. When I attempted to install the emacs26-app package with the command: fink \
install emacs26-app, it installed without error. From there, I was also able to \
install gnuplot (the reason I was battling with the emacs installation) without \
error. I can't explain it, but a different attempt produced a different outcome.

Thank you for your help and patience as I sorted this through.

Regards,
Aric
