For the record: This is not sufficient. fontconfig2-dev needs to be 
fixed if it wants to avoid blocking the 10.5->10.6 upgrade path. Its 
PostInstScript needs to remove the old libfontconfig.fink.la if 
/usr/X11/lib/libfontconfig.la does not exist. Otherwise the 
non-existent /usr/lib/libiconv.la will remain in the dependency_libs 
line where it was placed on 10.5.

What works is

  sudo rm /sw/lib/fontconfig2/lib/libfontconfig.fink.la
  fink reinstall fontconfig2-dev
