No, this is not necessary.

The source of the symlink is given by a relative path name here, 
relative to the directory where the target is created, not to where the 
command is issued. (Somewhat confusingly, in a symlink a->b, which is 
created by the command `ln -s b a`, b is called "source" and a, "target".)
