Sorry for the repeat; I used the wrong mail account before:

Hello,
First of all , please CC me on replies, I haven't received a response from
majordomo@cstr.ed.ac.uk on my subscribe request (?).

I am using the Festival festival_text_to_wave function to create a wave
file. I don't want to listen to the wave file, but this function calls
SayText to create the utterance which leads to calling wave_play() which
ends up calling EST_Wave::save which the reports the error:

Wave save: can't open output file "/dev/audio"

There must be a better solution. I looked at the example "text2wave" (which
works fine), but couldn't work out how duplicate its functionality within a
C++ program (I'm Lisp-challenged)......

Can someone provide an example or some insight?

Thanks,
Steve
