   I've done this.

   If you have the package on your ipaq, you can just use 'ipkg
filename'. Alternatively, you can schlupp packages from
ftp.familiar.whateveritis to any desktop, laptop, handheld(?) that's
running a ftp server. In short, if you don't use 'ipkg filename', then you
need a ftp server.
