The mail is not supposed to go to '/var/spool/mail' when running with POP.
The 'inc' command puts it into your inbox.

To debug these kinds of problems, turn on debug logging under 'hacking
support', and look at the execution of the 'inc' command, checking for
error messages. Also, you must be able to execute the 'inc' command outside
of 'exmh' properly for any of this to work. It should be something like:

inc +inbox -truncate -nochangecur -width 80

Check the man page for 'inc' to see how this is supposed to work. Also,
if you're running nmh 1.0.4, and not using .netrc for your user name and
password, there's a patch that's required for it work with glibc (read: Linux
systems). A fix has been incorporated into the nmh CVS repository, but
it's not in the 1.0.4 tarball.
