whoops, what I meant was, if the IP address for l-c-c- was a virtual IP,
and not the primary one, then when it creates a socket for an outbound
connection it would use the primary IP and not the one for l-c-c-.

we've seen this sort of problem on Solaris where a secondary nameserver on a
virtual IP interface works fine for requests, but when it does the zone
transfer it does it from the main IP address.

this was just a guess of course, but does explain the problem neatly.

I guess if you checked headers of mail from l-c-c- to see how it really got to
you, you'd know.
